Why She’s a Semifinalist: If you’ve ever had preconceived notions about the smarts of a pageant girl, spend a little time with Alex. This former Miss Vietnam USA is a Rice University graduate with biochemistry and psychology majors under her belt. Next up? Attending dental school. In the meantime, she’s pursuing an interest in supporting medical care in developing countries. She’s originally from Vietnam, and she visits as often as she can to see family.
